Clay Studio & Small Glass Studio

The studios where I work are in my backyard.  We built my pottery studio about 20 years ago.  There is an outside kiln yard where my salt kiln, raku kiln, and large gas kiln are located.  Inside I have a small gas kiln, and a couple of electric kilns which I mainly use to bisque fire.  I have a wheel, because most of my work is thrown, and a slab roller, because some of it is not.  (I share the space with 4 cats, who like to take naps on the slab roller.  See photos of Kashi's kittens, in a slide show, under Travel Slides.)

Because I did not want dust to get all over the glass rods, I wanted another small place to work when I started doing lampworked glass.  We found a little prefab building, sold at Sam's Club, which I put in a corner of the yard.  This has become one of my favorite places.  The doors open on both ends, so a breeze goes through when it is warm. When it is cool, I close it up and the torch plus a tiny electric heater keep it warm.
